These are the early pictures of the build for the new
Riley 12/4 that I hope to compete in during 2008.
Hopefully the car will be finished by June
2007 , allowing
me to have sometime for testing and running in, although I doubt it will
get very many miles put on the clock before it has to work in earnest.
The car is now up and running and
so far around 200 road miles have been covered.
The engine is beginning to perform
a little better but as yet only 4000 rpm has been used as a maximum.
The early faults are a leaking
gearbox front seal and erratic oil pressure and water temperature.
It handles quite well but I think
there is some work to do with various camber settings and tracking. I
have adjusted toe in to give around 1 deg but I think it may need a
little more. Trial and error here I think.
Now , June 2011 , and the car is going well . Many
events have been completed and in 2010 we had our first race win at
Mallory. Things are still changing and I think that this 2011 season
should , all being well, see a very 'sorted' car.
Well not to be .. the
season went well until 2nd race at Mallory when the engine gave way.
